Jo Quail

Portrait photography created for acclaimed composer and virtuoso cellist Jo Quail, including imagery developed for the Notan album campaign.

Jo Quail is one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary cello music, renowned for her immersive compositions, technical virtuosity and powerful live performances. Created around the release of Notan, this portrait series formed part of the wider visual campaign surrounding the album, spanning promotional imagery, artist portraits and physical release artwork.

A particular highlight of the project was seeing one of the photographs reimagined by the artist Costin Chioreanu, whose artwork was created from the original portrait and subsequently featured within the vinyl release. Thoughtful, collaborative and uplifting, Jo is a joy to work with, and this project marked the beginning of an ongoing creative relationship, with further collaborations underway.
